New York City Bistro Award winner Michael Hughes has performed on stages around the world from Canada to Japan, Scotland to the USA. 

 

His professional debut came at the age of nine when he was cast as Jacob in the Canadian premiere of the musical Another Kind Of Hero.

​

Most recently, Michael appeared as Prince Charming in Drayton Entertainment's Cinderella: The Panto, and Yesterday Once More. Other theatre credits include Timeshare Performance's Box 4901 (Dora Award nomination, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble); Plaid Tidings (Sudbury Theatre Centre); Rapunzel's Prince in Into The Woods, Pirates of Penzance, She Loves Me (Thousand Islands Playhouse); All About ABBA, Yesterday Once More, Happy Together 1967, Portia, VPP Christmas Jamboree (Victoria Playhouse Petrolia); Dean Hyde in All Shook Up (Theatre North West); and Gilbert Blythe in the hit Canadian musical, Anne and Gilbert. Television credits include: The Rick Mercer Report (CBC), Reign (CW), Mayday (NatGeo), Odd Squad (PBS), Mrs. America (Hulu), Gen V (Prime).

Michael is the writer and star of the internationally acclaimed, Canadian Comedy Award-nominated, Mickey & Judy for which he received a Betty Mitchell Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Comedy or Musical.

 

A sought-after cabaret and concert performer, Michael was a featured guest of Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster on his sold-out North American arena tour, David Foster & Friends. He was a vocalist for The National Ballet of Canada's West Side Story Suite, and his self-titled album received a Toronto Independent Music Award nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album.​
